Jaiden Thompson (15)
my body was crafted from Adam’s flesh; does that not grant me manhood?
god, melt my breasts,
turn my flesh to Adam’s blood,
let me bathe in myself;
i soak in this essence to feel a sense of belonging;
and like a snake in the garden,
scales painted with an unborn vice,
they say i’m poisoning Eve,
strangling her delicate blossoms,
gifting her with sin; what is sin
but an evil beauty often confused with my tears?
i know to hold them back, hide them
within my binders like this cursed treasure
known as womanhood; it claws at my soul,
inscribing unwanted prayers into my ribcage:
let us hope this child, baptized by satan
with tainted holy water, finds her
way through the poisoned abyss;
but this abyss is sacred,
feeding on the songs of girls
with hollow chests and boys
with swollen ones; i like to strum
until the string breaks and it is now
that Adam awakens, singing sweet hallelujahs
and at last i’m Him.
