Sama Hakmi (18)
Biology
Second-Place Winner of the Lungs Contest
Diffusion of my concentrated world
Into the jungle abyss of reality
Facilitated by the thin layers of my skin
From which leak the smoked letters of my name
That echo back to me with a different spelling galaxies have never heard of
I myself had never dreamt of a voice so different than my own, singing my own song with icicles dripping from every syllable
Tinkling down sinoatrial nodes in my heart
Changing the pulse to a drafty metronome
My rhythm forever lost in the last warm whispers of my anatomy.
Sama enjoys hot baths and the scenery of mountains against a night sky. Read more of her poetry here.
